My Dad flew in B-29 V Square 12 from Saipan. He was the flight engineer. I believe he was in the 499th Bombardment Group. His name was Murray O. (Mo) Longstreth. He told me that only 9 of the 20 B-29s in his wing survived the war. I would enjoy hearing from anyone in the Group or their descendants.

Question regarding Missing Air Crew Report and terminology

Language on an Investigative Report narrative from WWII reads: "Six crew members were captured in Kranz-Neuenfelde (L-54/S-34). One crew member is listed on MACR H-317, in a NC status".
Questions:
Can anyone tell me what NC status is ?
Can anyone tell me if they have ever heard of an MACR that starts with a letter, H?
Can anyone tell me what the coordinates L-54/S-34 mean?

We are "slowly" documenting what happened to the crews shot down over Japan. Many were simply listed as KIA or MIA. We now know many were, indeed, captured and executed. We can supply info to you if you have date or plane number.

We would appreciate copies of any MACR that you may have. These are the "Holy Grails" most of the time.

We also maintain a master roster of all men taken as POWs by the Japanese.

Raymond Arthur Cooley, 21, of Leary, Texas, died April 16, 1944, in the Finisterre Mountain Range, New Guinea.

My aunt (mom's sister-in-law) lost an uncle in World War II. His name was either Andrew Coy McBay or Coy Andrew McBay. He went to flight school (which?) in Long Beach, California; graduated in 1943. I am trying to help an old soldier from the DLI, George Black, retrace his wartime experiences. He was captured at Dunkirk and ended up in Stalag 8b. He was sent to a work camp at a coal mine in Siersza near Trzebinia.
